IND vs ENG: “There Will Be a Leaning…” - India’s Coach Drops Hint on Bumrah’s 4th Test Availability

India assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate has given a big hint about Jasprit Bumrah’s availability for the fourth Test against England scheduled at Emirates Old Trafford in Manchester from July 23. Speaking ahead of the game, ten Doeschate said the team is "leaning towards" playing the pace spearhead with India now behind in the series.

Bumrah has already bagged 12 wickets on the tour, including fifers at Headingley and Lord’s. He bowled 43 overs in the Lord’s Test and put up a fight with the bat as well, playing 54 balls in the second innings.

Given his history of injuries, the Indian team has managed Jasprit Bumrah’s workload carefully. Before the series began, it was made clear that he would be available for only three out of the five Tests. He was rested during the second match at Edgbaston, which India won, and returned for the third Test at Lord’s that the visitors lost by 22 runs.

India Likely to Play Jasprit Bumrah in 4th Test Against England

Ten Doeschate, India’s assistant coach, gave a clear signal that Bumrah could be retained in the playing XI for the Manchester Test since the team is trailing 1-2 in the series.

The upcoming match is an important one for India. If they lose again, it will also mean that England will win the series with one match to go.

"We’ll make that call in Manchester. We know we’ve got him for one of the last two Tests. I think it’s pretty obvious the series is on the line now in Manchester, so there will be a leaning towards playing him," ten Doeschate said as quoted by Express Sports.

Jasprit Bumrah’s Workload Back in Focus After Lord’s Loss

India lost a close contest at Lord’s, which made the Manchester clash even more important. Bumrah’s workload has been a concern, especially after a long outing in London. However, with a long break of eight days and the stakes rising, the team management would want to field their best XI.

His performances so far on the tour have been impressive. India will count on him once again as they head into a crucial match at Old Trafford.
