New Office-Bearers to Lead BCCI Amid Pending Sports Bill
The other key discussion points at the AGM are to introduce the new set of office-bearers; they will take charge of running Indian cricket for the next three years, or until the upcoming Sports Bill overrides the current BCCI constitution.
However, it’s still unclear whether fresh elections will be held once the Sports Bill comes into effect in six months, but for now, the board has chosen to stick with the Supreme Court-approved, Lodha Committee-recommended constitution.

Key BCCI Roles Up for Grabs as Leadership Questions Loom
As per Cricbuzz, a big name is doing the rounds internally for the BCCI president’s post, but there’s still no clear word on who might take up the vice-president’s role. Rajeev Shukla, the current vice-president, has been filling in as acting president ever since Roger Binny stepped down after turning 70 in July. Shukla could be in line for a key role, possibly the IPL chairmanship, but that depends on how Arun Singh Dhumal’s current tenure is being assessed.

Meanwhile, Arun Dhumal, who served as BCCI treasurer from 2019 to 2022, has been heading the IPL since then. With six consecutive years in official roles, he’s supposed to serve a mandatory three-year cooling-off period under the current constitution. But there’s a debate over whether the IPL chairman’s post actually counts as that of an office-bearer. If it doesn’t, Dhumal could stay on.
